Guy, Have a look at this http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-rvf400rt-nc3 ... t/F28.html

unfortunatly it doesnt show exactly where it goes but atleast it shows its a 35 one. trouble is theres also another flap showing on the parts fitch :?:

im sure someone will be along shortly with a pic of where it goes, im pretty sure the 2 small holes in the rubber should match up with some holes under the headstock for them plastic rivet screw type things.

That pic is showing the rear rubber flap. The 2 large rectangular cut outs go over the subframe mounting stubs. From memory i think it just lays over the rear cam cover and the wiring loom holder/wire on the right side above cylinder 3 goes through the slot and stops the wiring loom resting on top of the cam cover. Hope that makes sense.

Sorry forgot to mention that the round holes are for the spark plug caps i think.

Your right skinnydog, sorry guy my mistake, i knew it was off a NC and just assumed it'll be the infamous rubber flap  . looks like the flap you need is numbered 2 on that parts fitch. You could probably knock one of them up from that pic if you cant find one.

Thanks guys.....funny thing is I almost got it to fit at the front! I wonder how it would've run then?? :?

I clocked that the round holes were the same centres as the plugs but thought it was just coincidence....makes sense now. Time spent on this forum saves wasted hours in the shed!

Right then....just gotta find the front flap.

Found a picture in another thread:

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=12718&start=10&hilit=rubber+flap

so am now in business! Looks as though it can be ordered from http://www.cmsnl.com as well, thanks for the link Tony.

Now I can see that without that flap, a kind of ram air effect would take place at higher bike speeds.

Cheers

YYYEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!! WOO-HOOOOO!!!! GET IN!!

I AM ONE HAPPY DUDE!!

:rocks:

Finally, got hold of a front rubber flap and fitted it today along with a snorkel......

F*CK ME!!!! Straight to the red line in every gear, even 6th! I'm gonna have to fit the std smaller rear sprocket!

I was sceptical, have to say, I mean how could a poxing piece of rubber flappery possibly cure my bikes issues? Well, it has, and I just want to say a big THANKYOU to everyone who has posted a reply to a thread on here about this issue.....I wouldn't have sorted this out myself and would probably have eventually gone back to my 600 for trackdays.

But now shes a flyer! So far only done a few miles up and down a fast road, but she now revs out cleanly. Seem to have lost a bit low down, but it all happens spot on above about 6k. If anything she seems to run a bit warmer, but in fairness today was a lot warmer than the last time I rode her.....now seems to stay about half way up the temp gauge on the move, at idle shes about half to 2/3 up the gauge with the fan on almost all the time....well, that was at a standstill after a good thrash. I don't plan to be sitting in traffic (shes a track bike) so I guess the next outing will reveal all.

Are there any tell tale signs for rich running? Apart from checking for sooty plugs?

Anyway, me happy....thanks guys!

 Told ya she revs out in 6th ;) glad ya got it sorted now.

As for cooling she always ran a bit hot but the guage use to bounce about a bit so could be a dodgy guage? The motor isnt standard either so its likely to run hotter, Anyways she deserves some nice alloy rads :P
