Seeing as I was going to get new rings regardless will that need doing? Havent got vernier calipers. Or is it just a test on the old rings? Having a look at them though off the piston and a couple of the ring gaps look a mm or 2 out compared to others anyway.
Had a proper look at the barrels, it still has the hatching on all of them, will take it into a garage tommorrow to get a proffessional opinion on them as I dont know how visible it should be, they are fairly light.
One thing Ive messed up on though, the 2 sprocket kinda things in the cam part of the head with the chain attached, when this gets put back on does it matter how or can it be put on in any way? Looks like it has marks on both sides of them to get them set right or something...timing?
Thanks

it doesn't matter if you can see the cross hatching on the cylinder. They will still have some glaze on them. A quick run through with a ball hone will give you the required result. And new rings should need to be checked. I would put the rings into the cylinder and check the gaps anyway just incase. To tight and it'll wear the bores, run tight and could seize and snap rings.

Gave the cylinder and old rings into the workshop this morning, they had a quick look at it and said all was good. Just a quick run over with wet and dry should make it good. Probs a proper hone to get it at 45deg but other than that, ring gaps are fine so is cylinder :?
Plus side: £220 on new rings saved...minus side, what else could have caused the low compression?

When it was first checked they mentioned no fuel was getting into the 3rd and 4th carbs. If no fuel was getting to the 3rd and 4th cylinders im guessing the compression reading would have been low because of this? If there was fuel getting to it it probably would have been higher true?

Found the air leak, its on the right hand airbox to carb rubber bit, just need to patch it up somehow. Easy to fix leads/caps/spark plugs. Need new emulsion tubes and a diaphram which has a hole in it which probably caused the lack of fuel, and would it be worth doing the carb o rings again since theyve been sitting off the bike? Might as well to be doubly sure. Coolant is rusty and blocked so need to wash through those parts. Only thing stopping it being back on the road is the compression. Any one know what else to check for this?

Oh yeah, when putting it back together do I need new top end gaskets or do the 3 need to be replaced?
Cheers,

EDIT: Oh oh...Exhaust side of the valves part.
