That is good news then..

So, leaky waterpump by the sump? We talking a gasket failure?

never had cause to have the motor apart and it was 5 years ago,and i cant remember the layout of the motor.you could try asking on the exup brotherhood forum it used to be a great place for info and help.

I'm going to get around to taking the pump off nad see what is going on. Prob just needs facing and a new gasket...he says!

I made friends with the moto so want to get it road ready and go Europe on it in the summer.... Anyone got any spare headlights or tail lights for this?

yzf do like a drink of oil,when they get some ware on the motor. my mate was a bsb mechanic on them, we were told by yamaha keep the oil just above the sight-glass,the oil pump drives the water pump like on a 3tj i f i can remember rightly,,the oil pump fits in to a slot in the water-pump shaft.if you think oil pressure is low it prob could do with a re-fresh as they do ware a bit these old yamahas,but still a very under rated bike in the right hands ;)
