Does sir require a rear caliper then ? ... I got one with the wheels and SP forks I got from Ade. I can't say if it works or not though.

Got a bit more done now, dynacoils are wired in and fit nicely with just enough clearance for the throttle cable to pass over.managed to find some decent bar ends in the growing pile of bits in the shed.fork legs came back from the sprayers nice and painted and shiney so i can now put the new stanchions in them and thats the front done which means the front subframe/clocks etc can go back in place.not all been bolting shiney bits on though.the coonector box from the alternator had melted itself together and was fused into one solid lump.so i found 2 connectors the same from an old thundercat loom i kept and snipped them off the loom.i then ground down an old hacksaw blade to about 4mm wide and pushed the little clips that hold the metal spades in and out they popped,it was just a question of cleaning the old spade connectors and pushing them into the connector box til they clipped in place-very satisfying and cost nowt! the rest of the loom has been connected up and all the connections cleaned and treated with acf50(some were corroded real bad).my biggest headache at the moment is the rear wheel(sp) brake caliper hanger(sp)and swingarm(rr).i cant use the sp caliper hanger with the rr swingarm as the sp arm is machined to take the extra width of the sp hanger.ive got an rr caliper hanger but im not sure if i can use it with the sp wheel without some sort of extra spacing anybody got any ideas?

Top job so far! Keep it up. In the right hands old bikes never die, they just get better!

Fit up the rear wheel and see if you need a spacer .... then get one turned from the original RR spacer or made new

cagiva996 wrote:boring i know but its being sprayed in its original 1990 sp colours but with a black instead of white mudguard and black wheels/frame.i did consider a fag/team/ replica but i really like the red/white/black original colours and wanted to keep the bike nice and understated if you know what i mean.and i did do a deal with ade for the frame so cheers for that boris.
I used something along those lines for this Heinz 57 special

thanks guys for the advice guys,im going to have a spacer fixed permanantly to the rr hanger .a mate is going to drill and tap the sp hanger and using some small countersunk screws, fix the spacer to the hanger to keep the spacer captive so i dont lose it!all the clocks/switchgear,painted forks and some other bits are now bolted back opn.i cant put any silicon sealant around the coil terminals yet till ive fired her up to make sure ive got all the coil leads and ht leads in the right order,so the carbs and airbox are next along with the rad and assorted hoses.the radiator looks really scabby, with a big dent at the bottom courtesy of a stray alsation i hit last year, bottming the forks into the rad.(the dog survived ok and the owner who happened to be a biker bought me a set of pilot2 tyres by way of compensation) so a look at thundercat one has got me thinking!its a very similar rad with the mountings in a different place, the existing mountings could either be modded or cut and brazed back on in the right place-but the tj ones going on for the moment.some new caliper bolts are in order so will be scouring the net for some and some new front brake pads.bct are doing front ebc hh for 15 quid a pair with free postage on flea bay so thats where im off to.

I'm cleaning up my carbs for the Bim at the moment.
See I'd have used glue for the washers
