Re: Fzr400 2TK Pulling Away And Starting Problem
Yeah iv noticed some times mine doesnt go back down to normal idling speed some times but i swear these bikes have a mind of its own i was drinking a cup of tea while the bike was idling and next min it went up to like 4-6k revs so quickly went to the bike turned the idling screw down a bit and it went back to normal :S now im thinking my carbs are dirty but wouldnt that make the bike play up loads more?
i do the same it will go to tickover the rev it again let it drop and it stalls
Have you found when pulling away its very weak and 9/10 it will stall? and probably have to use alot of clutch to get it going?

I havent ridden my 2tk yet either but by the nature of a close ratio box they have I,m sure first gear will be pretty tall & will need lots of clutch slipping.

Re: Fzr400 2TK Pulling Away And Starting Problem
The bike was running alright then it died on me when i came to a stop, so i pushed it to the pavement waited 10 mins and it ran alright just not as quick, then died bit later and same happend then i didnt wanna ride it home then couple weeks later tried bumping it, wasnt having any of it, got it picked up, then after cleaning bits up etc bike was running better, then driving it it saw a couple of scooters and no joke it felt like the bike suddenly just went into hyper mode the bike had so much power, then i went back home and it died in low revs, then 2 back fires then it started, and yeah lol it rode alright after the back fires but its just the low revs i think it doesnt likehipringle wrote:I havent ridden my 2tk yet either but by the nature of a close ratio box they have I,m sure first gear will be pretty tall & will need lots of clutch slipping.

Re: Fzr400 2TK Pulling Away And Starting Problem
Obviously the first thing I'd say is check the compression.
This is get an idea of the condition of the vavles and piston rings your best starting here.
Easier though is to check your float bowl gaskets aren't flat ... they can leak a bit causing the fuel pump to need more time to prime (the ticking noise at start up).
How's your exup ??? do the cables have any free play - you should have no play but equally the cables musn't be tight.
Is the fuel tank dirty ?
is the fuel filter on the top of the fuel tap dirty ?
Can you swap the ciols for the 3TJ's to check them ?
Back firing can be a weak mix as well as rich.
Quickly rising idle speed is a weakening mixture, classically running out of fuel
could be a blockage or an air lock.
How old are the carb rubbers ?
Do the checks, do a compression test, take it to a dyno

How much are compression testers? or getting a dyno? The bike doesnt pull away it might do if i clutch alot more, and ill check as much as i can tomorrow and ill give you guys and update Cheers evil =]Evilchicken0 wrote:Obviously the first thing I'd say is check the compression.
