yup, easy way is to check the voltage across the battery when the engine is running - should be around 14.5V and not much more - if it's way lower (13V or less) - could be alternator or higher (18V) - could be reg/rec has gone

(rev the bike a little - to 6K revs or so, don't just measure it on idle)
