The reason the fuel pump wasn't working this time was the EXUP servo wasn't moving on it's start up cycle. Had been the day before but backed the cable adjusters back another turn and the servo was back in life and so was the fuel pump. Seems to be that if the CDI isn't getting a moving signal from the servo it won't let the bike fire up.

Now my fuel pump isn't ticking when I start up. The relay clicks on and off after 5 seconds and voltage is present at the plug. If I disconnect the fuel line and turn the ignition on then it pumps for 5 seconds everytime. What threw me is everyone saying the fuel pump always ticks away for 5 seconds when the ignition is turned on. Surely it's normal for it not to do anything (like mine is) if the line is pressurised already as the pump is self regulating. Anyone clarify???

PS. What twat put the fuel level screw on the right hand carb that high and close to the frame. lol

The pump cuts out when it gets to the right pressure or after it times out which ever is the sooner.

You could bleed the float chamber and then turn the ignition on - if it pumps then it's fine ... if not it isn't

Went out for a test run last night and WOW. Bit deaf now though as it came with a race can fitted and that starts to hurt at 10000rpm. Pulling like a train though even in 6th uphill. New end can now, I think. Er....Pardon?!? :)
