I had the same prob with mine. Recently had the carbs set up properly with a dyno, loads better but still lacks a bit in low revs. I was told it's the daft stubby race can I put on it :D

No, not necessarily.
Different parts of the carburetors supply fuel at different revs. Hence why peeps are pointing at you pilot jets being clogged.
Regardless of what carb part it might be, you'll need to take them off, inspect all jets (with eyes!

). While you have them off you can clean and adjust everything to what it should be. A hands on job, a forum can only point you in the direction of a problem, not fix it.
Not difficult, just takes time. If you need help or pointers just yell out, a haynes manual is invaluable at times like this.

ok, i have checked the regualtor with a volt meter and have the following results -
battery ( bike off ) approx 12.4
running - 14.5
lights on running - 11.8
rectifier
red wire - 13.1 - 13.8
with lights on - 12
yellow wires - 6.3 - 6.6
with lights on - 5.9
do these readings look ok ?

also if these readings are ok and it is the pilot jet, would this need replacing or just cleaning ?
is it accessable without removing the carbs from the bike ?

with the lights on running it should be above 12.8 because at 11.8 its effectively draining the battery the entire time they are on, mine runs at anywhere between 13.5-14.5 with the lights on to give you some sort of idea of what a healthy one puts out.

We are helping..What specifically is it that you want?
You need to check the charging system throughly as it seems that your charge rate is too low with the lights on. It will discharge the battery and you'll have problems.
If you test the voltage DC at 5000 revs it should be well into 14V + lights on or not.

well it seems that the regulator is not good, which i will change
what about the pilot jet, is it worth giving this a clean aswell ?
do the carbs have to come off to do this ? and does it affect any mixtures ?
