i was once told if ur gonna run mismatched tyres make sure the front are at least as soft as the back.

I run Metzler ME33 in the front and BT92 at the back. No complaints. I have plenty of confidence in them. The BT92 is hard in the center for mileage, but soft on the edges for grip in corners, work of genius if you ask me :)

Don't pay any attention to what I'm saying, but this makes sense to me... :)
My first choice would be BT90 in the front with BT92 at the back, 2nd choice BT92 front and back.
In a straight line u don't need that much grip with ur back tyre, but its good to be able to do some heavy braking with your front tyre in a straight line.
I've never tried a BT92 on the front, but I've done some heavy braking at high speed with the ME33 to the point where the back wheel almost lifted. (I underestimated how much I needed to brake so I didn't apply the back first as I normally do with heavy braking)

Like lope I run a Battleaxe bt92 on the back but I run a Battleaxe BT 090 on the front, dual compound with sticky edges on teh back so i get a few miles whilst still being grippy and the bt 090 is meant to be pretty much a race/track tyre so plenty of grip

Like many have said, tyres go off, regardless of how much tread the tyre has. If in doubt replace them, its cheap insurance and they are the only things keeping the shinny side up. Also I like to run a matching front and rear :-)

yep they do have some miles under their belt but they havent been scrubbed in properly yet. the guy i bought it off (which is a very good friend of mine so i know the bike well) had bought them a week before his mot. on the way to have its mot the bike spat its dummy out. as he couldnt afford the bill he sold it to me i can get some pics if you wish?
