i have got the same problem, got caught out 45 miles from home because i had lights on. girlfriend came out got the jump leads on it for 20 mins and rode home fine with lights off. does gf have a website? cant seem to find it on google but dont know if im spelling greame correct.

Was there any success with the alternator from your other engine?

Just attempting some testing on my NC30 now. :(

Not sure if anyones confirmed a straight voltage check across the battery with engine running- should be in the region of 13.8V, I'd be doing this first and then start ripping looms etc apart if necessary.

rite well, ive swapped them over, the old stator coil had burnt out. its clearly visible and black melted wires on the stator coil. ive put it on a tested it, and im getting about 13.8 volts across the battery with engine running and lights on :-)

thaks for all you help guys. im gunna do some ringing around tomorrow and see if i can get the old stator coild rewound or re-conditioned by a specialist. good idea? i dunno, but its worth a try.

its usually fairly expensive. usually find one cheaper 2nd hand.
