Viper. I dont like the way you are suggesting my Speedometer reading is Fake by simply removing the Speedometer Cable. I always use the Speedometer as it should be, and have never ridden the bike with it Unplugged like you suggest. I know the previous owner who had it for a number of years before me and they also verify the mileage, as does all the Old MOT Certificates.


I will get on the telephone to Kevin at Projex to bring into question this apparent loss of power and see what he has to say about it. I may even get in touch with Honda themselves and see what they think on the matter and if they can give more advice on what should be expected from these engines.

I didn't say you have removed you speedo, although I have had mine removed in the past. My speedo broke and I never replaced it, bad me!!! I'll pull out a link to the old site with the dyno-graphs so you can use it as reference. Might be worthwhile to contact Kevin as the bike is not using the best of the power available. Don't know what Honda will do for you, but there are a few Dyno agents on here (Stephen from GT Motorcycles and Chris at Dynapro I think you call it) and some of the regulars on here will back up the 55bhp+ RWHP.

So then to summarise: my bike should be running at least 10bhp more AT THE WHEEL. Feck. I thought it had been improved massively and can certainly feel the difference from what it was before, I hate to think what it would be like with that much more power in it? I dont think it would want to keep the front end down if it had 10 more horses in it!!!

As for Honda, i was only going to ask them if they knew of any problems with the bike, if this power does seem strangely low, and just as a quick question, I shall verify with honda themselves just how much this bike should be putting out.

The graph I posted was a smidge under 58BHP at the REAR WHEEL and the NC30 is meant to have more power than the NC35... As an early NC35 it's also now 15 years old (and was 12 years old at the time of being dyno'd) with 55k on it!

Now it might be that the dyno you were on reads low but 10BHP low is a lot.

hi hampster sorry to be another naysayer but stock nc30's make around 58 ish bhp at the rear wheel, viper biker is saying the truth.

i would look at the dyno and see the sae figure that they used ( its used to take into account enviromental differences in dyno runs) if the wrong setting was used then the dyno would show your bike to be down in power when it really isnt.

The graph looks very smooth so i,m guessinng that might be the problem.

It been known for tuners to use high sae figures to show a bike with less power that they had and then correct it after tuning work to show how much difference they made by there work, one reason why all dynos show diferent power levels on the same bike.

It depends on the dyno, these are questions you need to ask the dyno operator.

If it was a dynopro or dynamics dyno you should be worried... but it wasn't.

It was a Dyna Pro Dynamometer. So what does that suggest???

Is the dyno operator a big fatty??
