Help with inlet manifold rubbers!

Got 4 new manifold rubbers from David Silver today, now going by the manual (Small cutout at the top) the carbs don't line up!
They fit onto the heads/carbs fine, but when trying to fit all 4 down, you can only have front or backs snug in, the remaining 2 don't even come anywhere near, any help with this? :s

Just keep at it mate, their not the easiest things in the world to get on, i usually get the rear's place then get a crowbar :o under the cross section of the frame and GENTLY ease the fronts in, i use to stand on the feckers before i thought of this :lol:

Cheers, it's strange though, they all fit on but theres about a 3mm gap until the carb mouth sits directly over the rubber! weird shit, bikes testing my patience alright lol

It is normal...

Patience and some brute force when your patience runs out....

There is a knack and I reckon Cammo will be along soon and post his little munchkins fitting carbs pictures he has...

ensure the carb rubbers are fitted with the arrow cuttout in the correct direction and they are the right way up.
a light smear of grease on the carb inlets on the outide to aid fitment.
then push the front 2 carbs in all the way into the rubbers and gently drop the rear down so they sit ontop of the rubbers.
now with brand new rubbers they will almost plop into place with some downward force, but a blunt flat headed screwdriver can help to tease one into place then the other before you feel a definate clunk when they are inplace. be carefull not to slice the sealing rubber.
deffo a knack to it but it easy with new rubbers and if they are the right way round and not upside down (i have made this mistake in the past - once ! )

Exactly the way I do them :) I use red-rubber grease as its safe for rubber so whatever grease you use make sure it's not going to destroy your new carb rubbers... if there new you probably wont even need it.

Fronts in then keep a bit of pressure on the front to stop them poppin out and press the back down :)

and make sure the clips are wound off as much as they can be.
