The most common problem with all the VFR's. Just search for reg/rec or regulator on this forum and you'll get hundreds of results.
The Proper battery is a YB9L-B (9ah)
Theres nothing wrong with it though. It'll be your charging system

Formerly RacingSlug. Felt like a change and it came down to either Biscuits, Ben10 (possible copyright issues) or NinjaSmokeWarrior. The wife suggested TwatMan.

Before you go changing the rec/reg, check the connections going into it are secure and clean as on mine one connector had corroded so when i fixed that it was fine and gave no more problems.

Funny you should say that mate, I had to rewire mine to get it running, my 4 yr old could have done a better job, lol.
Whereabouts have you sited yours? Originally fixed mine to the outside of the subframe but wouldn't fit under the seat fairing
currently have it tucked behind the battery, wedged against the undertray.

Mine is below the tank bolted upside down under the connector bank support bracket. Thats where it was when i got it.
take your tank off and you will see where all the wires are connected through a plastic piece with holes that fit the different sizes of connector. See no reason to relocate it.

you must solder the yellow wires, either together or solder the spade connectors on. they have high current and they'll just burn if you dont.

I just crimped them on and it corroded the first time, when I fixed it I soldered them 
, I have had no more problems since then, touch wood, lol.

wasnt there an issue with the reg/recs original placement? being behind and above the engine they were getting loads of heat and failing early?
