URGENT help needed, chain related

Post by rich1988 »

Hiya, I noticed the other day that my chain was tight when the wheel was half way round and loose when the wheel was the other way around it was really tight, I thought nothing really of it, today I was filtering through traffic and hurt a loud CLICK noise followed by more clicking, I pulled over and the chain was extremely tight and it was clicking periodically, rather than ride it I pulled over and picked it up in my van but I ahve no idea what could be wrong so hence asking on here!

I am thinking of selling it to be honest, I have nowhere to work on it and I cant store it at my parents any more so seems like the only option damn shame this happened when it did :(

Any help would be appreciated as obviously it will be worth more without this issue! :P

The chain is knackered mate, they can sieze up in places which is causing it to be tight in places and loose in others

Not sure about the clicking and clunking tho, sounds like its done some damage, change the chain and sprockets and have a good look over everything while your there.

Might be a loose pinch bolt for the hub.

ITs now tight all the way round and is quite dfficult to turn but I put this down to the fact the chain is so tight, To be honest Im just going to sell it I have nowhere to put it anymore and I cant face the thought of leaving it out in the elements, how much roughly do people think its worth?

conisdering the problem, its a 93 NC30 26,000km MOT till june next year tax till the same two almost brand new battleaxe tyres new reg rec and battery, new top fairing and screen only other issue is after a low speed drop one of the fairing panels has some cracks in it with the chain issue how much do you think I should ask?

Advice on how to fix it is still apreciated!

rich. I keep my bike outside! i have bought a dust cover and a Oxford rainex cover for it all about 60quid!! they both work excellent the bike is bone dry and i never have any problems starting it!! As for the chain i reckon you just might need to oil it properly and undo the pinch bolt loosen the chain off a little and really tighten the pinchbolt up. the clicking maybe just that the chain was really tight. Dont sell it mate come the summer you will regret it!! Winter is the time you can sort these little problems out!! did you take it down to bob missen bikes to sort out the carbs???

I took it down today actually, and he said they need balancin, I Actually have it booked in for monday ! wont be making that any more! :P I know what your saying but I just want shot of it now, I have loosened the pinch bolt up and tried to loosen the chain without sucess, I know I wont get much for it this time of year but I have had my fun with it and I may get another next year but for now Ill let someone who knows a bit more have it!

I probably will regret selling it but I dont want to leave it outside, I'll buy another next year maybe :)

I dont know how much its worth, the chain is loose again, Ideally I would like a grand but thats probably a bit much? Dont think I would take any less than £800 though as its still got a decent mot and tax new tyres etc Im not sure what its worth thats the thing, I'll write up a better description later on today
