Carb Balancing - HELP

I was balancing my carbs the other day and managed to *uck then write up to the point the bike wouldn't start so i took the carbs off and set all butter fly's the same just touching the top of the carb cylinder

Know it start but when i get all guages reading level they are only at 10 on the carbtune and the bike sounds like a bag of nails.

could any one help

PS Bike was running but changed diaphragms so i though i would balance at the same time.

found out that when I put the proper tank back on it runs fine so i think it was sucking some air from somewhere could anyone tell me how they run there's with the tank off.

I normally use a motorcross tank that i have lying about, that's always worked for me.

do you connect up both fuel hoses or just 1

Either the on or the reserve pipe. Just one.
