NC30 Sluggish under 6000rpm

Hi guys

The bike was fine till I fitted it with a aftermarket slip-on. The problem, it runs fine at low temp but as soon as it reaches 90'C it starts to backfire during deaccelleration.

When I rev it up a bit under 6000rpm it doesnt rev cleanly (till you pass 6000rpm). When I pull away from 1500rpm it struggles, untill it passes 6000rpm.

It's likely that you'll need to adjust the pilot screws to compensate for your new can.

I can't remember if this is a carb off job or not (since mine are usually more often off than on I just do it then).

2.25 turns out on the pilot screws should get it in the ballpark. The standard setting is 2 turns, bit who knows what yours are set on...?

It could also be other things, but if it only started when you changed your can, then pilot screw settings are very likely the culprit.

If you need help getting the carbs off and adjusting these then just shout out, heaps of peeps on here will be happy to give you directions. It's not hard, and you'll learn lots about the workings of your bike.

Then i'll start with the pilot screws. I also think my carbs need some cleaning but I am a bit scared to mess with them. btw, that can be the reason why the bike is so heavy on petrol, 110km till reserve.

How many things do u have to take apart to adjust the pilot screws? Its
1 petrol tank
2 air filter
3 carbs off
then how much do u have to disassemble them to reach the screws?

just take the side pannels off and get a long flat bladed screwdriver there on the bottom of the carbs you can get at 2 from each side. no need to take tank off etc just side fairings give you all acess you need to check and adjust.

Thanks for that info. I wanted to take the carbs off but my dad dont want me to.
He say ill make the damn problem worse. Got the Haynes manuel and saw some of the carb pics, have to say it looks like a area I dont wanna go.
