33BHP Restrictor HELP

Post by Cue_147 »

My bike was working perfect on full power, but when i got the garage to fit the washers the bikes now running rubbish.

Bike starts first time, idles perfect and revs perfect when still, but when i ride it i can't go passed 5500 rpm and i can only go 50 mph in top gear.. Is this correct??

I phoned the garage and he said yes thats what they do.. if ithats the truth there coming straight out.

Thanks.

I just can't beleive a 50cc scooter can do 30mph and a bike that should be roughy 250cc can only do 50mph.

thats not right, I have restrictors in I can do 95 without much trouble (not tried to go any faster) and rev all the way up (not that I do very often) It does feel slower and doesnt accelerate very well in top gear but they have done something very wrong for yours not to go above 50!

mines a 93 NC30 btw

No, it sounds like you have disconnected the speedo and it has the 5.5k revs restriction. The washers don't do anything like what you have described. Check your speedo connections etc..

OK will do thanks, i didn't think it could be the washers.

I can't see why the garage would touch the speedo but they did say thats what the washers done to the bike.

i think cmsmj1 is quite right
im afraid ive jumped the gun once again checking out a few other forums on this subject you should be pulling around 70 -80+ mph for a 400cc restricted bike it will take awhile to get there mind so yeah 50mph is to slow. i will go and stand in the corner again with my big D hat on

I'm going to go around and sort the bike tonight (Hopefully)

I will check all the connections behind the speedo, all fuses and electrical wires... should this solve the problem??

Also should i unplug the cdi unit?

Thanks

I wouldnt say you should unplug the CDI unit, all I literally did was take the airbox off and the rubber funnels on top of that carbs, pop the 4 washers in their respective cylinders then put the rubber trumpets back on the airbox cover and airbox and voila

I went through the bike with a toothcomb and couldn't find anything.
I then decided to take the washers out so tank came off, all of the air filter and there they were the damn washers, took the top off the carbs off and the washers came out.

I put the bike back together and hey presto running perfect :)

How many kilometer do you get out of a tank? I filled mine up and I have got 150 and have just gone to resevre is this about right?
