Re: NC29 Running on three
Right then, tank off, air box out and coil off.. Fiddly little bugger that it is.
Changed the lead and it sparks, started her up again and still a bit rough but the downpipe for cyclinder one does heat up now.
Doesn't get as stupidly hot as the others but deffo gets hot now.
What is the gap on the sparkie supposed to be?

All this info is in the haynes manual, cant say how good an investment it is for reference. Will have a look later when i get back from work if someone hasnt already answered for you.

Google it with the prefix 'download'. You'll find it. Not that I condone such behaviour.

Re: NC29 Running on three
Would you believe I can't find a Haynes, went to Halfords in CHippenham, then Halfords in Yate on the way home from work yesterday and neither had it.
I'm off to Halfords in Cribbs Causeway, Bristol shortly I need some carb cleaner for the carbs for my Thundercat, neither of those Halfords had any carb cleaner either..

Re: NC29 Running on three
Anyone want to buy an NC29??
A very kind fella sorted me out with another coil, I think it was mrdidlydingo, I am sorry, I had to empty my messages to let some more in so I can't see who the offer came from.
I fitted the replacement coil but unfortunaltey this has not worked. The same pot is still not firing.
I swapped the coils pack around that were in the bike, so the left coil was feeding the right and the right coil was feeding the left and again cyclinder one is the one that was not firing.
SO then, it's not:
[*]Sparkies
They have been swapped but still cylinder 1
[*]Coil
Replaced coil, still cylinder 1
Swapped left and right coils over, still cylinder 1
So then, mrdidlydingo, please can I take you up on your offer to tell me where to hunt in the loom.
I am hoping it's just a loose wire then and nothing more sinister.
I could really do with getting this fixed asap as I have a big camping weekend coming up with another bike forum in 10 days I've barley been on my bike for 12 months so want to get some mileage in before going.
Cheers

No I haven't but thanks for the idea.
I hate having problems, but they are the only way to learn I suppose.

Re: NC29 Running on three
i just read the first thread, if one cylinder is cold, it either may be lacking compression, for example, a sticky valve, or its not getting fuel. i had the same problem when i tried to balance my carbs. so i got the valves cleaned up, so it had lovely compresion. but they still wouldnt balnce, and number one was running cold, it had good spark and was getting fuel. so i turned the pilot screws out to 2 1/2 turns and the carbs syncd nicely, it may be running a little rich, but at least all the cyclinders are nice and hot.
