battery concern!! any body help

Post by Moore »

Hi,, im towards the end of restoring my nc30 project. started it up for the first time about two weeks ago, everything seemed to be fine! No knocking, smoke, over heating.. But when I started it up again yesterday I noticed a noise from the battery? sounded like it was bubbling or boiling. it continued to do so (10mins or so) after I switched engine off . the battery is new, Dose anybody know what could be the cause of this..

I will be adding more pics of the project soon, Ste :peace:

Knackered reg/rec by the sound of it. Get a multi meter on it and see what the DC Voltage is across the battery.

Test it when off, then at idle and then see how it climbs when you give it a few revs. If it goes over 15v then don't go riding around with the battery boiling under your nuts..I imagine it would make a mess of the family jewels if anything happened and the very hot sulphuric acid got out and all over you and the bike!

HAHAHA, Yeh and thats what i dont want to happen!!! The NUTS verdict sounds awfully bad, But i dont think i could handle the bike getting hurt or burnt
I have been testing the engine whilst its in gear (no chain) as i need to get a gear change pedal.
i dont know what gear bike is in at mo. do you think this could have nackerd rec/reg.
i will replace mine for a better 1, any suggestions for this.
Might as well, ive just about replaced every thing else.. I bought some irridium spark plugs, heard they were the best to buy and Less effort needed from battery, I was abit parranoid these had caused the battery to bubble!!!! Nice 1 for your reply, much appreciate all the help and advice i get on this site.. Thanks
