Um no, a 400 frame with a 600 engine in. "Did" as in overtook the R1.sparkles wrote:plodder wrote:Better off with a good 600 conversion![]()
Did a R1 last night out testing t'cat carbs (lean idle/nice cruise/too rich up top)
never heard of a R1 engine in a fzr6 frame before but what frame did you use . . 3he or 4jh ?
On the last ride out Phil led on his R1, I forgot to do my helmet strap up so he got a bit of start. I pushed and the engine on the 400 span up howling. eventually I caught him and stuck with him till the end.
Proof that you only need to use 3 gears on an R1 to stay ahead of a 400

The R6 has a stacked gearbox so all the mounting points are in the wrong place. The R6 frame is also better than the TJ's so there really isn't much point.
The great thing about the FZR400/600 (3HEor 4JH) conversion is the bottom ends are common so the sprokets line up and the bottom mounts are the same. You only need the top mount plates (on the TJ) and the engine's in.

If you fit the 4jh engine in to the 3he frame the chain rubs against the frame so you have to move the rear sprocket by 10mm
You can put a 4jh top end on a the 3he bottom end of engine and some how makes it in to a 660cc engine dont know how . . think you have to put a spacer between the 2 parts of engine

Correct, but I'm not saying at what speed.hunter wrote:sparkles he means he ripped an R1 while testing his hybrid.

He must have got some smoke in his face 'cos it's well rich on the cat's main jet. Just fitted something smaller and when it stops raining I'll give it a go.

Well it's a 600 so not sure - the 4JH (FZR600R Foxeye) used a wider rear tyre though so it might be something to do with that. The 3TJ also uses a similar tyre (although it's a different wheel width so maybe it just gets a bit closer without fouling.
Yes the 3HE used a longer stroke with smaller bore so if you fit the 4JH top end you need a spacer at the bottom of the barrels or the pistons hit the valves and head. You can put a 4jh top end on a the 3he bottom end of engine and some how makes it in to a 660cc engine dont know how . . think you have to put a spacer between the 2 parts of engine

I have a Hybrid.
I also have an R1.
If my life depended on a race with the devil, I know which one I'd take.

The tyres are the same but I think the wheel is narrower on the 400 which squeezes the tyre in a bitplodder wrote:3TJ and 4JH both use a 160/60-17
