so guys first step towards a full carbon nc30 !! what do you think . . .




i still got a whole load more polishing to do . . .the tank is still wet in that pic. it now looks like this . . .





so far it cost me a tank plus 30 ish quid !!

Eskee, is that price you are saying about purely to Cover the Tank out of Carbon Fibre, or is it to completel make a tank from scratch? Have you used Kevlar at all to re-inforce any potential Impact points on the sides of the tank? As these will just shatter if dropped and the tank will be useless. At least with kevlar re-inforcements the risk of it breaking are seriously reduced..

Well us looosers as you call us will see how you get on and when you have an untold amount of problems you wont be getting any sympathy from me.

Hope you have fun and watch your costs spiral you will see why they cost a lot as you go on.

no offence but I just cannot see how you could possibly build a strong and reliable Carbon Tank under £50. There was a thread recently on one of the motorbike forums that i frequent that showed a guy custom building a GSX-R750 petrol tank and that was some piece of excellence, but it still cost him around £300 with all the materials, not taking into consideration how long it took to make aswell.

but your not paying yourself a wage!! How long have you spent doing it... factor that into your costs at £30 an hour ad you will soon see the cost multiply.

hold up guys, sorry i didnt explain properly . . . this isn't actually a full out carbon fiber tank !! its just standard tank covered in carbon !! its not a super slick, lightweight race tank . . . just an alternative to painting !! and not counting the labour has actually cost me less to buy all the carbon/resin + ancillairy items for the whole bike than to buy just the paint/thinner/primer !!

looks good for just a covering, is that tail unit stock honda plastic with carbon over the top? quite a good idea actually if you just want carbon look but dont really care about lightweight etc

do think you comment to jap4 was a bit out of order tho
