Power delivery reduces when throttle beyond 3/4 open
Hi,
I'm not much when it comes to technical matters (probably should have considered that before buying a 20 year old bike), so wondered if anyone might know what could be the cause of this? Basically, the power delivery is smooth and even when the throttle is up to 3/4 open, but then beyond that it gets lumpy and inconsistent.
All help / ideas fully appreciated....
Thanks,
Adrian

Did it just start doing this or have you fitted any new parts? Check the air & fuel filters, is the fuel pump clicking when you turn on the ignition? It could be a coil or the cdi breaking down under load or when it gets hot.

As said ...if youve added anything recently that may help us to find out what's happening.
I'd be looking at the fuel system andthe exhaust. Dirty carbs or maybe the exup valve in the exhaust is giving some trouble.
Have a look on the links in the sticky thread at the top of the general section and find out your model of FZR then download a manual.

Thanks for the replies and the pointers. I'll go and search out the manual.
I only bought the bike yesterday, but just didn't flog it enough on the test ride to spot the problem. Mind you, on a 2 hour ride this evening it's still a lovely ride even at only 3/4 throttle.
Cheers,
Adrian

may also be float heights a tad low, but you need to make a systematic check of everything rather than just dive in and guess at any one thing.
