FZR4001WG Fuel Tap

hi all,

this is my first post here and what better way to start off....with a problem

i cant find my fuel tap on the bike, someone said i dont have one??!

ran out of petrol the other week, luckliy i was within walking (well draggin) distance of the petrol pump - but thats another story

Hi there ... and welcome.

The fuel tap is under the tank near the back on the left (as you sit on the bike). Chances are somebody took the tank of and either broke the lever or the part the lever bolts onto. Then they turned it to reserve with pliers.

Good news though - it's fixable, bad news is it's probably new parts.
Copy down the frame number or check on your V5 and ring Fowlers in Bristol - you need the tap assembly, the lever, and the small screw that holds the lever on ... cost about £30.

Take off the riders seat, dummy tank shroud and then the fuel tank (leave the airbox at the front well alone for now) lay it on it's side and replace the tap at the bottom. Reinstall the tank and then fit the lever if you fit the lever before you'll break it off again when you install the tank.

When you fill up reset the trip on the speedo, when you hit reserve make a mental note of the trip take 10 miles off and you know when you should be at a petrol station.
