rectifier overheating

rectifier overheating

ive just put on a new rectifier on my nc30 and it gets really hot is there another problem thats causing this or is that normal for them to do that many thanks

Nah, Mate - they all do that...!

Seriously though, they do - the alternator produces around 18V, the regulator caps that down to 14.2V or thereabouts and the rest is dissipated as heat.

yup, tis normal from everything ive read on here... mine gets pretty toasty at times.
