Hiya, i have two cut down carbon micron ZX6r cans on my nc30, there 2 1/4 inch bore, and alot quieter than the reverse cone mega phones i did have on.
I've not had it on a dyno but it'll pull form 3000rpm in top all the way round to the limiter with no flatspots at all. i cant remeber wat size jets i have in (127 i think) but it also has a foam filter fitted.
i did the pipe work myself in an afternoon or so. the linkpipes are currently mild steel but that'll change when i have some time off and its not raining.
I like the look of the megaphones better but the noise was unbearable and i would of deffo got pulled for them.
Heres a pic of the megaphones:-

I post a pic of the microns in a bit when i've found me camera!!!

Cheers
Ian

Mate im in durban and can get any vfr spare from honda, i did a complete rebuild and got all the spares for it, not cheap, but available.. If you look in local bike magazines theres been a surge in local companies doing body kits, exhausts etc for grey bikes.. Just need to look around a little harder here in ZA...

Have you thought about a motogp style ehaust, one like the yamaha m1 has with a small diameter short can. Cheaper than a custom made under engine system
i wouldn't mind a short can either... i'll deffinately go for a short can, if it will save me money on rebuilding a new system.

Morespeedvicar, your bike looks befok, neat. you made the pipes yourself? mad skill.

braa the hondas dealers in CT don't even have bolts for the vfr. where will they still stock fairings and other goodies. what bike mags you buy. cause bikerSA only caters for the new bikes.

Jaasis you CT ous are only useless ey?! I saw and add for replacement vfr fairings by comp called war eagle i think, a while ago, and companies like startline keep large range of generic accessories.. Slip ons can get from most dealers and bike shops, consumables for nc i got from honda, but all honda stock comes from jhb so maybe try them direct.. Bike SA, 2Wheels, Superbike all have local adds, tho bikeSA has the most adds i think.. I saw an R6 can on SA ebay a while back, just need to remove the exup from it and match the pipe size with one or two collars and should look pretty compact and good on the NC.. Im busy building an underseat for mine with new cans as well, like to compare to a more compact side system, see which looks better.. And respray the whole bike while ur at it!

*EDIT*
Wait the R6 can is for right side not left!

you think a R6 can will work. thos pipes make a moerse noise. i don't think it will matter if it is for the right side. you gonna have to make a bracket(exhaust stay) in any event.
a respray with a new colour scheme design wont be bad.

I cut about 15cm off the original can i got with bike, which i was gona use as an underseat but it was way too loud, and thats about the size of an R6 can, i think the R6 has an underbelly expansion area so the muffler doesnt do all the quietening, but one could def be mounted on right or left side, maybe upside down on left side, and it may be quiet enough.. Im making two new cans for the underseats which are only bout 70 diam x 220, but theres two so only two cyls per can.. What about welding? whos gona do your tig for you?

i found that bosson makes up new exhausts. im gona find out what they can do. i want a sort can similar to the Race Fit cans if they can make it. only R1 400 they said. but i have to take them a pic or sample.

i was looking at the new R6 can aswell. those are quite loud on the R6. if bosson can't make my exhaust. ima see what they could do bout fitting an R6 can. but they also stock cowley pipes. another option. :blowout:

You seem to be forgetting my friend, and no offence of course, but the R1's and R6's are Inline 4's of a higher Capacity and nothing like the 400cc V4 in your NC30. If your only looking into this option because you want your bike to sound like a Yamaha YZF-R, then you are going to be very dissapointed as it will sound completely different, in every way.
It just seemed to me like you want the bike to sound like the YZF's and I thought id fill you in about the sound before you potentially waste Hundreds of £'s on a Custom Exhaust setup.

I dont think the R1s sound was his intention at all, otherwise he'd have said: "I want my small V4 to sound like a big inline4" wouldnt he?
