Full test of new toys.
I finally had the chance to get in a decent run (2 1/2 hrs round sunny Cornwall) with my winter fitments today and thought I would share my feelings.
First up. What's new?
Maxton filled forks via GF.
Top and bottom rads from RO. Plus Nitron rear shock.
Micron Race exhaust from Arbmoto.
Programmable cdi from Chrisxr.
Arai Viper GT for me :D
Findings:
Bike starts with no choke with the new cdi fitted
Revs cleanly through the whole rev range and no longer bogs down at 10k. :D
I had a Tyga system fitted previously and was going to get it on the dyno to check the fuelling as it suffered at 10k but never got round to it. I Cannot remember what jet sizes are fitted at present but I will be getting some dyno time to check the fuelling (see later).
Despite the intense heat down here the temperature never made it to 80 whilst riding. I was held at a temporary traffic light and was worried that the temp would rise rapidly as I had been making brisk progress up to that point but the new rads removed the heat efficiently enough without the fan (removed for Micron exhaust) and it only crept up to 90 before I got the green.
Forks feel more supple so I assume it must be the Maxton internals doing their thing and despite some intentional heavy braking the front mudguard does not touch the RO upper rad. :D
Once the revs get above 8k it certainly flies and brings a big smile to my face.
The new Arai is amazingly cosseting and much quieter than the AGV it has replaced so a big plus for that.
There was only one minus point and that was going onto reserve after 100 miles riding.
I will get it on the dyno at GT to check the fuelling as that suggests it is running rich.
But I have a bike that looks standard but sounds mighty fine and goes much better than before and that makes me a happy bunny.
So a big thumbs up all round really and just need to get some dyno time to see what it really does.
Enjoy the summer.
