problem after de-restricting?
Hi guys, so I took the washers out of my super four the other day and found a lot of smoke coming out when at high revs?
Could it be running rich or should i look at something else first?
Thanks

Re: problem after de-restricting?
Are we talking black smoke, blue smoke or white smoke (steam)
Also - if it was restricted properly it should also have had smaller jets in and so it should now run lean...and not be smoky at all..

I would say black as i looked out for blueness and didn't see any.
I've got the receipt of work done for the lady who had it before me (she got it restricted) and it just says the fitment of the washers, nothing about the jets.

Re: problem after de-restricting?
Many bikes burn s little oil when the taps are wide open. You wouldn't have been opening up to full capacity when restricted, so it may just be that causing it. How much are we talking about? It's not unusual for the 400 IL4 engine to burn a little bit anyway, mine did and it wasn't a problem.

Re: problem after de-restricting?
Pretty sure it's a problem, quite a thick cloud at full whack. I'm getting pretty bad mpg as well. THink I'm going to just put the restrictors back in anyway as I only took them out to go abroad on it and am happy with 33bhp for a little bit longer.
Thanks though

Re: problem after de-restricting?
Ok so i put the restrictor washers back in toay an it's still shitting plumes of grey/black smoke out on anything over 6k revs. Could i have accidently richened the mixture when deristricting somewhere?
