Hi guys :)

I have been working on the RVF today and I am confused about a few things as this bike is new to me and I don't know what am doing :(

OK this is the problem I am having...

Q1) you know the right hand side frame where there is the lowest engine bolt mounting, well my bike came without bolts in here, so I ordered the bolts and spacer, from the look of it on the microfische it looks like the spacer goes BEHIND the frame spar but when you look at it, the spacer is a perfect fit inside the hole in the frame that the bolt goes through, can someone please confirm does this spacer go in this hole or behind it ? heres a pic to show what am on about.

Also anyone know torque settings ? I think manual says 40 n/m left and right but am not sure if I am looking at the right thing ?

Q2) My bike came without the fairing infill bits so I bought some carbon ones and I am struggling to work out how they fit, so far I have only tried the right hand side, I have noticed there are holes in the frame, do I need some plastic plugs to plug this in place ? also how does the top go around the rad part ? does anyone have a picture pleaseeee :worthy:

I got a few more jobs to do, I need stainless bleed nipples and the rad looks like its just got water in it, so am gonna do a coolant change and brake fluid change before I even start it again.

Shame I didn’t see your post earlier – had my bike in bits today so could have taken some photos for you.

Anyhoo – I think I can help with Q2.

Assuming the carbon parts are the same shape as standard – then the large radius at the forward edge of the infill should fit snugly up against the rad-filler neck, but below the overflow outlet.

There’s a pic here from Tyga’s website that seems to show the fitting.

It will be secured in two ways.

1. Plastic grommet/plugs that locate through the inner edge up into the underside of the frame. (Honda / Halfords).
2. A small self-tap posi-screw that secures the infill into a threaded metal clip located on the lug of the mid panel, once the latter is fitted.

The diagonal slot in the panel is for a fairing bracket.

Make sure you get the infill properly lined up between/below the little red guides/tags moulded into the mid-panel, and Bob’s your avuncular relation.

Thanks for that quicksilver that helps me big time :grin: :worthy:

I have a problem then, the bike has been down and the filler neck of the rad is bent slightly to the left and is touching the metal part of the rad, theres no room to slip this carbon infill panel in there as I tried for over half an hour.

I will try and bend it slightly, gulp, watch me break it now :lol:

I ordered the plastic plugs from Honda and there coming soon :blowout:

No problem – I did suspect that the rad was a little misaligned when looking at your picture, but thought it might just be the angle of the camera…..

You might be better to try and cut the infill back slightly to suit the profile of the rad rather than try and force it.

If you can figure out how much should be taken off by using a piece of cardboard as a guide, I’m sure you can re-profile the carbon easily with a Dremel and then use some super-glue to seal the rough edge.
