new derestricted cdi problem

Post by beltin145 »

Hiya, i`ve just bought a new derestricted cdi for my gk76a when i plugged it in last night the same way as the original the bike wouldn`t fire!! any ideas?? the previous owner has cut off the smaller of the two block connectors that go to the cdi and replaced it with three space connectors! when i put the original cdi back on the bike worked fine!
All help would be gratefull recieved!

ps the local bike breaker has a neutral switch for sale for a tenner, would i be able to position this in 2nd and plug it in and leave it under the rear seat?? just an idea! need more power at track days!

Sounds like your de-restricted CDI may have transistor issues which is fairly common. Test whether the CDI actually fires the plugs by taking a plug out. If not it is a problem with the CDI. Is it a modified stock item? What is special about it? Does it just take the speed restriction out?
