Advice please with total loss
Hi long time without being on this section
, I,ve just bought an nc30 ex race bike which runs total loss. It hasnt a regulator/rectifier which suprised me, is this ok to run like that i.e is it normal to ditch them, it has a starter motor on it.
Also fuel is pissing out of an overflow, its been stood for the past season so guess it will be a float stuck or needle seat with crap around it, do they have small o rings that perish, never had to dismantle nc carbs before so wondering what the usual carb problems are with this symptom, cheers in advance.

Re: Advice please with total loss
if its total loss isnt it normal to loose the reg/rec? there's no need for it as there is nothing to charge the battery so no voltage needs to be regulated
and fuel out the overflow says to me that a float is not floating and so jammed down could al be the thing the float actuates, it has a small pin on it that is pressed this could be stuck down? might also cause the fuel to over fill

No mate you don't need a reg rect so no surprise there isn't one...neither is there a flywheel or stator. You'll need a spare battery or optimate and genny for trackdays my cbr happily did the pb cadwell day with 2 fully charged batterys

Re: Advice please with total loss
the purpose for a reg/rec is for the charging system and running lights etc so without one is absolutely normal for total loss.

You can go total loss without altering the loom.Me76 wrote:Sorry to jump in guys I dont want to hijack but, what wirring do you need to run if you do go total loss?

To go total loss, loose the stator plate and flywheel, save more weight by loosing the regulator/rectifier.
If you want to go custom loom, then you can loose a helluva lot of the wires too, but its a fair bit of work.
If you already have a custom loom, you can loose the three heavy yellow wires also.
