New VFR owner

Post by Rosco »

Yoyoyo!, just bought my new VFR 400 NC30 on monday and just getting used to my shiny new toy!. Just a few questions really and to say alright to everyone. Ok the bikes 93/94 year with just under 30k miles, got it for 1400 excellent condition, im fairly pleased. The thing is, it has HRC on both sides of the fairing, what does that mean?. Also there is a new end can on the bike, but the downpipe isnt really in the best of conditions, any recomendations for new systems? id also say if price wasnt really much of an issue, what could i do to bring this up to date with modern parts??

Any info would be great,
Cheers,
Rosco.

Sorry buddy maybe should have elaborated. If me 400's got HRC logos on it, does this mean anything has been done to it with regards to tuning?

nah highly unlikly that it would suggest anythings been done regarding tuning.. not to say it hasnt mind!
Most NCs have HRC plastered over them.
As to your other question- Supposing you're keeping your bike on the road there is very little you can do
to gain much power or modernise while keeping the bike looking nc30ish.. Getting the carbs rejetted is common and helps. There are various things you can do if you're making her into a track bike, but none of them are very convenient for a road bike money wise. Changing to forks to USD ones, as on an NC35 isnt uncommon.

Have a look at some of the bike build threads on here as they have some mad mods!- including digital rev counters etc.

As for your downpipes, the exhaust thread, in the V4 graphics section, will be very usefull!

The type 8 colour scheme (commonly called the 'OKI rep') came standard with hrc stickers on the rear fairing. Is that yours?
