THE STRANGEST THING JUST HAPPENED....! NO FINAL DRIVE...?
Just rode home from work, backed my bike down the gentle sloped pathway so my bike is next to the house but easy to get out in the morning as it's facing the right way. Got to the bottom but just went about a foot too far so released the clutch slightly to pull it forward a foot, and there was nothing...so thought to myself must be in neutral but no light on, toed the gear selector down but it was already down, so toed it up n neutral light came on so toed it down again into gear, felt it click in , released the clutch and still nothing, toed it up again into neutral then up again into second, released the clutch and yet still nothing, tried all gears but nothing in every gear, anyone ever had this problem before and if so what is the cure..?

Checked to see if the chain had come off by removing fairing and front sprocket cover, only to discover my worst nightmare, front sprocket has come of the splined shaft and sat on the threads and ground them smooth, can't replace the nut as it doesn't bite on any of the remaing thread I can literally slide it on and slide it off, totally fooked...pah this means sourcing a part splitting the engine to replace the shaft and replacing a load of gaskets etc.....that's all gonna prob cost a fortune and a few hours of time i just ain't got...damn I'm sooo pissed right now....

Q take the oil cap off and look at the clutch plates when engine is off and squeeze the lever to see if they move out and back in again, if not your clutch push rod has popped up on to the top of the ball bearing. the cure take tilt bike to the side stand and rest rider foot hange onto axle stand to allow oil to come out of clutch area, take off cover and undo all bolts hold clutch plates in and take out. then gentley pull push rod back towards you to release. also check that the little gismo behind the rubber crommit, release it off a bit and give it a try.

I've known people tack weld the nut onto the shaft as a quick fix to this.
Stick a new sprocket on and a decent chain and you'll not need to change it (especially if you sell it

find some 1 with a BIG die an cut some new threads then find ya self a dif nut to fit new threads add lock wire and thread lock, or get the shaft out and find some 1 with a lathe!
