do the valve clearances, set the carbs up properly, you can lose a gasket to raise compression i think but how reliable it becomes i dont know! you can get a derestricted cdi that changes the power curve slightly too but the one i got didnt fit the 3en1!

If the 3en1 has the same style airbox as the 3tj there is a very simple mod you can do. The rubber trumpets inside the airbox are huge, the first thing that is done when tuning them is ditch these and put on shorter ones. When Racetechniques set up my 3tj I didn't have any so all they did was cut of the end off the trumpet, they then cut the remainder so that it just stuck through the airbox. Then they superglued the trumpet end back on thus makins short trumpets for zero money.

It makes a huge difference to power and is the best bang for buck mod I have ever done.

I will try and get some photos of mine attached later.

That's interesting stumac but the 3en airbox just has rubbers not trumpets

What you can do is clean and lube the chain so you don'y loose power through the transmission ..... the cheapest mod though is lower the gearing take one tooth of the front. Not great on the motorways though.
Get your suspension set up - 400's rely on corner speed and to keep that up you need supple sussys.
Finally change the brake master cylinder for something a bit more modern, I don't think a radial will fit though

Thats a shame, it works wonders on the 3tj. I was amazed at the length of the trumpets on my bike, must be for noise restrictio or something.

Photo uploaded, standard trumpet is at the front. Airbox with cutdown trumpets is at the back, all they did was cut the end off and superglue it back on. Then they filled any holes in with superglue.

I used this until I got a proper airbox and trumpets and it worked great.

For some reason I couldn't get the pic to open direct so have just put a link.

What about the 4JH trumpets that are part of the carb top for the 4/6 hybrids? Does this cutting down work the same or does it mess them up?
