Aprilia RS shock mod info
Hi guys
Can anyone tell me if its the earlier or later aprilia RS 250 shock that makes a good mod once modified?
Is the mod just a spring uprate?
Is the shock already 10mm longer than a standard VFR shock?
Is there any other mod recommendation for this RS shock?
And lastly can anyone recommend someone who has done this mod.
Thanks

Is the mod just a spring uprate? - No - you need the right spring for your weight. The aprilia shock is too lightly sprung so buy a new spring or use your NC one
Is the shock already 10mm longer than a standard VFR shock? - Yes - thereabouts
Is there any other mod recommendation for this RS shock? - Yes - get it rebuilt with fresh oil and seals and 1 more shim on the rebound stack.
And lastly can anyone recommend someone who has done this mod. - As in someone to do the rebuild? Or someone who has doe it and fitted it? Mick Gardener Racing in Barnsley did my rebuild and I fitted it...
Thanks
Welcome! The mod is not a straight bolt on..it takes some effort and money as you should really get it rebuilt and revalved to suit the heavier bike and linkage setup.
It is a great mod though if you get the shock cheap enough. Needs 1.5mm off the lower fork (or the triangle linkage) and also a s=touch shaving off thetop of the shock head.
best thing I fitted to my bike..and I have done a lot!

Does Mick Gardener know what slight mods to do to top and bottom of shock to make fit?

Re: Aprilia RS shock mod info
would get a slightly longer hose from the shock to the res fitted or get the existing hose turned 360 so you can mount res in the orignal position behind pillion peg
