Possibly Wanted - 3TJ Motor
My 3TJ has been out of action for over a year now, due to the engine eating its big end bearings. But with the summer fast approaching and my finances being a bit healthier, I am thinking about resurrecting the TJ again.
I was going to rebuild my original engine and get BDK to mod the bottom end oil passages to try and prevent it happening again, but due to work commitments i just don't have the time to do it anymore.
The easiest option for me is to buy another 400cc engine in good running condition and fit that to the bike. So i thought i would put out a couple of feelers to see what you guys have tucked away in your sheds.
The engine needs to be in good running condition, and be ready to fit to my TJ, as i already have 2 non running motors i don't want another sick engine. Not remotely interested in anything that’s been raced either.
And before the inevitable hybrid replies start, i do plan making one, but just not with this bike.

I only please one person per day.

The original engine has knackered big ends and the replacement engine i bought last year has no compression.sharpey wrote:whats up with ya 2 non runners ??
I was going to graft my top end onto the replacement engines bottom end but i have decided against it as i have no faith in the replacement engines bottom end.
I don't have time to rebuild the engine so it is easier for me to buy another engine to fit to the bike and probably break the 2 sick motors to help fund the new engine.

The engines that i have at the moment will not be for sale until after i have sourced another engine and have the TJ running.
I will have to keep the sick engines so that i still have the option of rebuilding one of them if i can't find a engine in good nick.

Would you be interested in selling one of the gear boxes from the knackered motors?

Re: Possibly Wanted - 3TJ Motor
Oolit. I've got a 3TJ motor I took out to fit the 600.
The bike had something like 30,000 KM on it and is a road bike. I can't absolutely guarantee that it has never seen a track but the bike is pretty mint and in original road trim, so I very much doubt it.
I used the bike as a 400 for one summer but it was not torquey enough for me as a road bike (overtakes on busy days were a pain), so I changed the engine. There was nothing wrong with the engine when it came out.
I'm located in South Manchester and I work full time, so can't be doing with palletised couriers. If you're interested then let's discuss money and logistics by PM.
