sounds just like my earlier prob bike would stall (carb probs) i could restart a couple of times then bumping was the order of the day chances are if its the original batt its goosed and a new one will make a real difference and give you peace of mind

you might try testing the resitances of the terminals on the Regulator/Rectifier....
