600 down pipes

Post by Thunderbike_steve »

Hi there, a quick one for you engine swappers like myself.
Have any of you used the stainless down pipes you can get on ebay quite cheap? If so are they any good?

Yeah. I got some on mine from Sandybikes, for the foxeye. Seem to fit quite well, didn't have to modify them at all. However, can't vouch for the power they give as i haven't yet had the bike dyno'd /setup.

Hi evil, got the 727 engine together, just waiting on a cam chain. The frame is away getting the mounts cut off and re-welded further up. I'm planning on having it ready for Snetterton on 5th/6th of June. All due to waiting on my friends back home sorting me out a cam chain with 2 extra links, I did ask for it making asap in January :?
When I have a cam chain I'll put details on here.
Looks like I'll only have a 600 to race at Cadwell, so I may be getting frustraited by 748's holding me up in the bends.

Would a yzf750 chain not fit.
Did you use thwe 3he crank, with a spacer under the block,+overbore to get 727.

Not sure about the 750 chain, what i've worked out is a 600 chain plus 2 links. That is exactly what i've done hunter. I used 400 cases and gear box, 3he crank, thundercat rods and cbr600 pistons (65mm ones) and a 5.5mm spacer gasket. Though in my opinion you could go for the extra 0.5mm and use r6 pistons as there is still lots of meat left between the pistons.

Can I get a quick recap on this motor spec please?

400 cases - 1WG or 3TJ?
FZR600 3HE crank with Cat Rods and CBR or R6 pistons - got that
Block from what?
Head from what?
Cams from what?
What carbs will you run?
what mods (like your camchain length, oil gallery mods etc) needed to make it all work?

And all this goes into a 3TJ frame?

sorry to be dull, but this sounds like a great way to use up a spare 400 and 600 motor I have with just a few extra bits.

regards

PB

Smooth - Steve competes in Thunderbikes and the rules say the bike has to have the crankcases and head.

You need a 4JH engine
3HE crank
Hornet pistons ... or R6 maybe
thick base gasket to get the compression right.

then it could just come down to timing .... (innit Alex ??)
