CB400 superfour version s problem

I have a 97 version s when i start it in the mornings i hav to leave the choke on for a long time when i finally start driving it the bike starts to splutter in low gears then when it warms up its not as bad i had the carbs cleaned and still the same problem any ideas lads :cry: :cry:

have a look at the air filter. If that is dirty or oily it could be a cause of your porblem. Same with the plugs. Take them out, clean em and see if that helps at all.

I have to second what frank said. I had similar problems and took an air gun to the air filter. No problems after that. If the problem persists then seek the advice of someone who really knows carbs.....aka not me. It could also be that you are running too rich or too lean and your carb needs adjustment. Check your plugs too. If they are covered in grey soot you're likely running too rich. If they are black, you might be burning oil. All stuff that might cause your bike to run rough. If there is oil on the plugs though, you have a lot more to worry about than just tuning your carbs, changing your air filter or changing your plugs.
