no spark
hi i have just bought a gixxer gk76a. i bought it as a project because im gonna go college. im having trouble with it. there is no spark going to the plugs when i press the start button. any ideas please!

So does the start button do anything? If not is there power at the ignition? Do you have power going to the coils?

always the first Q......
just check the usual checks......coils,ht leads etc.have a good look at the wiring and make sure it's all good.
what condition are the plugs in themselves?and make the sure there is no fault with the kill switch at all,it may be the type that allows the starter to turn the engine over but kills the spark so it does not start.

identical issue to my own - ive been pullin my hair out for a long time trying to fix it.
replaced countless potential causes and still no joy.
As WULLVFR says below - check all the basics and then some.
One thing i noticed was that while cranking it, although there was no spark (and the starter motor was doing its thing), as soon as I switched the killswitch from Run->Off, i would get a beefy spark at the plug. Let me know if its similar with your own.
Check and clean all your connections though - cant be said enough for old bikes.
