Gearing? RVF400
I removed the sprockets from my "restoration" project and they were the stock 15-38 gearing with 525 chain (102 links). I found some brand new Renthal sprockets on E-Bay with 15-36 gearing, 520 conversion. What do you run?

Stock gearing with 520 conversion, but should have gone 1 up on the rear.

Pete, why do you say go up 1 on the rear? Slow as a dog? Need/want more acceleration? Do you take the bike to the track? If yes, which tracks? I know, a lot of questions, just trying to get things sorted out. Thanks.

A little more acceleration off the line would be nice. As for the track not yet on the little NC, but plans are set for this summer. still working on gathering all the plastics and tank for the track.

on another note.. invest on some track plastics. Clean OE fairings are hard to come by in the US. Most sellers on Ebay are not willing to ship overseas ( trust me on this).

Since I have yet to ride this thing, is first gear ridiculously tall? My RC-30 was like that, then 2nd-6th were all close ratio. Great for the track, but not for the street. Did a few trackdays on the RC-30 at Sebring, many years ago, and remember running out of gearing on the long back stretch.

I have a spare upper that I am going to make into a track piece. I'm going to fill/mold the headlight holes with fiberglass before I have it all painted. What is nice about the RVF is that the headlights are part of the upper and not attached to the fairing stay like on most bikes. Easy switch with the Dzus fasteners. Other than that, if I was dumb enough to take an RC-30 on the track with all stock bodywork, then I guess I can take this thing.calirvf wrote:on another note.. invest on some track plastics.
