NC24 side lights

Post by christ044 »

On the NC24 there is no side light in the headlamp, they are in the sidelights, do i have to keep them in the side lights for the MOT?

My nc24 just went through an mot last week no problems with the side lights/running lights fitted in the indicators. Ive personaly had no problem getting it through an mot, however i have heard of people having to fit a side light into the headlight lens to get it to pass.

Think ill have to have a chat with the bloke at the MOT place then, don't really fancy trying to fit a sidelight bulb into the headlamp!

I don't think the sidelight is on the MOT checklist

it CAN be a nightmare depending on the MOT tester.

Since it has a sidelight position on the switch the sidelights should work, but as said before, it uses front indicators as sidelights.

I disabled this (cut the orange / white and blue / white wires in the indicators plugs) as peopel always think your turning and like to pull out :(

I think it all comes down to weather or not the MOT tester classes the indicators as being on the front of or the side of the bike (as there on the nose cone) front indicators CANNOT stay lit.

Side lights CAN! (like lorries / vans etc)

I think thats where the pass / failing goes by the book (this is from memory so might be wrong..)

I've know people to have them passed as factory standard (indicators as sidelights) have them pass with the indicators disabled and no sidelight bulb, and other people that have had to take a 12v off the colour/white trace and fit an LED bulb as a sidelight to please the tester.

Best to speak to whoevers testing your bike, better if their familiar with old jap bikes and the mot law. :-)
