NC29 Flat Spot

Hi folks i was wondering if you could help me,
Ive got a flat spot on my NC29. its got new plugs in it, and all the H/T leads are all intact and pushed in . it is around 5 - 7000 rpm. when at full throttle and going right up through the rev range, it feels like the bike its holding back a bit.
i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

what exhaust system is the bike running?sometimes whilst running a aftermarket end can can cause this if its not been re-jetted.

it looks like a standard factory can and pipes. the pipes are 4-2-1.

Try pulling on a bit of choke as you accelerate through the flat spot, if it runs a bit better then it is lean through that rev range.

as jon says,try the choke method whilst it happens.this determines whether its running lean or rich.


it is most definately fuel related(carb)......especially if it happens everytime whilst going past the same point on the rev range.electrical problems tend to be intermittent.try jons advice first as this can give you a better idea before stripping everything down for a right good look

to be honest i think you may be right, when the bike idles it only idles at about 1.800rpm. how would i got about adjusting this because i cant find the carb settings, all i can find is ''remember where the factory setting is''. i suppose i get the lads to balance the carbs and all that jazz while its in the garage.
cheers folks. oh by the way, i see that david silver spares sells the jap fitment bulbs. has anyone used these spec bulbs? are they any good?

I just bought one it came to just over £9 and was delivered next day, maybe not as bright as these xenon types but unless you do the H4 modification I think its your only option.

yeah, well i want to try and put the propper bulbs in because it seems like something with those headlights is draining my battery because the batter chares when my lights are off, so when i get the bike back i suppose its just a mater of checking for shorts. ive notice if i have it on main beam the lights are rubbish and it looks like the aim is realy high so i moved the aim too about the right height, but when i put them on full beam, the light shines right at the groud. i dont know whats occuring with that. maybe someone has wired them up wrong or something.

for MOT purposes. they only check the LOW beam. so make sure that one is right.
Nc29 headlights are simply crap, there isnt much you can do to improve them. and believe me i have tried!
xenon bulbs= blew with in a week!
ultra white/blue= no real improvement
80/100W bulbs did improve things, but they draw a lot of power and you cant start the bike with them on, not enough juice.

i am now using xenon HID ballast kits! they were very bloody good when 1st fitted, but now they seem to have dulled!

BTW i have the headlight mods in place so my switch gear does not melt!
