Wiring up lights for a daytime mot
Right my trackbike runs a race loom with no provision for lights etc although does still have the charging system and i want to wire up a rear light and indictors. Im not great with electrics but i have a basic understanding of it so im looking for the easiest way to get some lights on the bike, could i just make up a seperate loom for just the lights on their own or will i have to hack into the bikes loom?

If you're going for a daytime MOT, then you can have no lights at all!
I'd put a brake light on after, but if there is one light, there needs to be all lights and they all must work...

Easiest way wold be to run a seperat lights loom, no need to hook into exisiting loom, it woul dbe a fairly simple circuit.
What sort of ignition switch do you have?
would you want the lights to turn off with the key?

ignition is just a kill switch so no key, im not going to be leaving the bike anywhere as i only intend on using for sunday blasts

Best bet would be to talk to the place where you would get it MOT'd.
You can always put the indicators and brake light on after the MOT, especially if they are on a totally seperate loom as suggested above. The seperate loom actually sounds like a neat solution, I'll have to remember that one.

you don't legally need a brake light but some MOT places won't do a daylight for you without one.
You need a horn, reflector and a plate..
indicators, user your arms. Fit a cheap LED brake light that you can whip off when you go trackdaying. I would not like to ride without a brake light as car drivers have poor depth perception and need the lights on to tell when you are slowing down!

yes that was my thought for a brake light, best to have one just for saftys sake. Style wise i like the led unit aly (ABR Motorsport) has on his road bike. id like some indicators again only for the sake of some of the dumbass car drivers out there. Didnt know i needed a horn so thats one more for the shopping list.
I dont want it perfect just want to get a bit more use out of it than the odd trackday, that is until my NC30 project is finished
oh and mark the mrs took the parcel this morning and will post it through work so should be with you in the next couple of days

There is no such thing as a daylight mot. (I am a car tester, but like to keep up to date with bike mot stuff)

If this situation occurs the machine presenter should be issued with an advisory notice recording the above and it should also be recorded on the carbon copy of the VT20"
It's down to the police to say whether you're out at night without lights, not the MOT testers
