NC30 Problem

Post by ejtrent »

Hello there guys,

Okay well the problem with my NC30 is that when its revved it gets to 5k then backfires and splutters all over the place, unrideable, rev counter darts up and down.

its on and off as in one minute itl start, next minute itl do that.

Replaced pulse generators (pickups) and the problem went for about a mile (however, at the same time i stabbed the CDI a bit with a screwdriver - was told it can help) then problem came back, same symptoms, backfiring running real rough.

Bfore this, I had run the bike daily, so i dont see how crap could of got into the carbs etc..

Reg-rec is fine.

Tips please guys, im almost certain its the CDI just want t o make sure before switching it out, everything else is working correctly and now horrible engine noises.

From what I can gather it is the "ingnition not advancing correctly"

Thanks, just need the reassurance before I shell out on a CDI.

Only thing I can suggest is: check the vaccum hose if it has one; if there is a kink on it it'll cause a similar problem...
Erm, just thought of something else, Earth points all good? Don't think CDI's fail just like that (though stabbing it with a screwdriver will probably do the job well ;) ), but by all means swap it with a mate if you can just to be sure.

I'd check all the connectors especially the earths and around the clocks.
