Got problems :(

Post by mjt-fzr-88 »

Right where to begin lol (it's not that bad lol)

Basically the other week i got smacked up the ass at a roundabout by a car, low speed but enough to send my bike to the ground.

Got a quote on the repairs to the fairing and respray job but it came back at twice the price of the bike.

I think i might be sorted for fairing panels as a local breakers has a bike in.

I also have a problem with my engine, it decided to one day drink most of it's oil and it ran low and now i got this annoying deep and high toned tapping sound. taken it to a local place and says it's more than a shim and i should look for a second hand engine.

Thats my problem, i can't find any anywhere, the one at the breakers is knackered and eBay is useless for my year and model of bike :(

anyone able to help me in the right direction?

Here is the current state of my fairing:

Thanks in advance for the help :)

How much did you pay for the bike ???

The engine noise "sounds" like new piston rings which is a top end strip and/or the cam chain is worn ... either of which will cost a bit to fix .... really it's not economic to repair your bike.

If the car that hit you is paying you cash to avoid damaging his NCD then maybe show him the garage quote and ask for £100 less in cash. Ask the breaker what they'll give you and scap the bike.

You'll be ahead on the deal.

I don't mean any offence but step back from it for a moment ...

It's a 20+ year old bke with a knackered engine ... take the garages quote and talk to the guy who hit you. If it's engine was ok then £500 would be a good price for one of these.
