NC30 Indicator Issues

Post by dx400r »

Got a interesting NC30 electrical issue here and wondering if someone could point me in the right direction

For some reason, on the side of the bike where I have no indicators with working bulbs I get the indicator warning light coming on yet on the right hand side of the bike where there are functioning indicators front and back - they blink as per normal but no warning light flashes with them!

Its worth noting for those who are thinking about this that the indicators are not OE but functioned fine in the past.

Anyone able to put me on the right track? A ground I dont know about?

Thanks in advance

Long version;
The dash indicator light has one wire go to the postive power wire of each indicator circuit
i.e. one wire to power wire on right flashers, other wire to positive wire of left flashers.

When you turn on one flasher the dash indicator light completes it circuit to earth via the opposite globes to earth.
There is not enought current flow through the opposite side globes to make them light up as the indicator globe has too much resistance.
Blown opposite side globes = no earth path to complete the circuit = no dash indicator.

Short version;
Its normal, replace the globes and it will be fine.
