Heya,

I guess alot depends on how much you are looking to spend. My understanding is the RS250 Aprilia shock is a good fit, but needs a new spring fitted first. I don't think there are any others that will swap stright in.

Alternatively, consider buying new. I'm hopefully nearly ready to buy a Nitron Sport from Rick Oliver at £335.

Hope this helps?

If you're looking for a budget replacement then later model gsx-r shocks will fit (if you move the battery?) and aprilia rs250 shocks are popular. You'll probably need to change the spring on both of these to make them suitable, the standard nc30 spring will fit on the rs250 shock.

Another option is to get the nc30 shock rebuilt (nc35 shocks aren't rebuildable). In Oz our race classes only permit the use of honda shocks no newer than the bike. Mine has been revalved, resprung, reconditioned and has compression adjustment added, it's probably as good as anything out there for a rider like me.

Aftermarket shocks are nice but not cheap, you can get as near to the same results (if your surname isn't Bayliss or Rossi) by spending a lot less money.

I have an RS250 shock on my road bike and a new one to have sorted to fit my race bike. Once rebuilt and with correct spring rate they are great.

The added benefit of 10mm length over the std raises ride height nicely and improves handling.

I have done a lot to my bike..but the shock is still the best and most effective of all my mods..and one of the cheapest ;)

They can be had for £50, rebuilt for £90 and resprung for £40 - saying that..if I had the money for a Nitron I would be very tempted.... But I am not convinced it is twice as good as a rebuilt RS250....might be??

your other option which is expensive is to buy a nitron or hagon shock can't rememeber which one it is,there is different models available eg race fully adjustable etc but they sell for silly money.

they are available from http://www.mandp.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; i think.

rick oliver who is a member on here supplies them also i believe.
