BAD DAY ON THE ROAD...
Well the day started out well, the sky was clear(ish) and the roads were dry. Me and a couple of mates met at starbucks in hooley south of coulsdon to then head off to rykers at boxhill. I had fitted my new braided hoses yesterday and was enjoying the ease of stopping which was good.. While fitting the hoses a bit of brake fluid had ran onto the tyre wall which I cleaned off this morning.
Coming down towards the last round about I took a right hander at high speed and ran wide as the front started to loose grip.. (probably due to the brake fluid spillage..) As me and the bike were edging closer to the kurb I had to lean further and not brake or let of the gas as I heard this can be very bad! I had a tank slap as the tyre was loosing then gaining grip!! Luckily I managed to hold it through out onto the straight and it sorted itself out! Was probably the scariest moment I have ever had in my life!! My mate was behind me who just couldnt believe it!
Anyway... pulled into rykers and was buzzing.. Put the bike on the stand and got off.. 20 seconds later it fell over!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I felt like such a dick! The car park was rammed full! I went bright red lol...
5 mins later a guy on a old mint suzuki 500 race rep stacked in while pulling out from the car park.. he gave it too much revs and the rear span up.. This took everyones attention off me.. Which was nice, but I did feel sorry for the guy.. He fecked his fairing up on the left hand side and snapped his gear linkage..
Luckily my pride and joy was not damaged to badly.. however my bar end has snapped clean off (which saved the fairings!), rear right hand panel has a crack by the lights and on the left side which it didnt fall on a small bit of the fairing has snapped off.. was from the mid piece..
Apart from all this we managed to have a good ride out! Will get pictures up tomorrow..
If anyone has any original fairings knocking about I will be interested as would prefer not to repair them..
Just thought I would share my day with everyone....

Re: BAD DAY ON THE ROAD...
sorry to hear about your mishap mate, been there myself and it is the worst feeling ever.
i use to dread waking up in the morning and looking out the window as every other day it was getting blown over.
as for your near loss, take it easy, and next time get out with plenty de-greaser and make sure there is no left over brake fluid on the tyre.......better safe than sorry bud!!!!

Re: BAD DAY ON THE ROAD...
Brake fluid spillage should be cleaned up immediately!! not the day after. you do know what it does to paint?
as fer rounderbout poo in pants....
take your time getting used to riding again.. its not summer yet, there is still grime on the roads from gritting...
no disrespect, just because the sun comes out doesnt mean summer riders should too.. there are loads of hazards they dont see around.

Re: BAD DAY ON THE ROAD...
Jeez man I had heart palpations just reading your story, when I get a day that starts like that I just go back to bed (and hope i dont fall out!). I also have nightmares about the wind blowing my bike over, atm its very windy and I have it tied to a post and a refuse bin lodged against it and a 1 foot wall, just in case.

"brake fluid can damage paint but apprently its a load of rubbish? "
reeeeaaallly... so go cover your bike with and see what happens!
i accidentally dumped all the front brake fluid all over my leg and front wheel last summer. i cleaned this up immediately with loads of water and kerosene. i took the bike over to a m8s who had a bleed kit. HE dripped fluid on to my rim and did not clean it........ i now have what looks like raised paint (looks like corrosion under paint) where it had pooled for 5 mins!
i think someone was pulling your leg!
