Re: Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
The 3 pin connector goes to the combined fuel pump / reserve level sender unit inside the foxeye tanksmemly wrote:Cheers Alex,
I'll wire it in this evening and try again.
All you need to do is splice in a fuel pump connector to the blue & black and a level sender to the green & black (i.e. make 2 terimations from the single black). Then the reserve function and fuel pump all work properly. If you use either foxeye or YZF750 clocks then the fuel light will come on when the fuel level is low or when you have the fuel switch set to reserve (the level can still be high - I think it is to warn you that you have reserve mode set).

Just out of interest did you mod the airbox or junk it for pod filters.
Roll on the sunshine
I modded the airbox, cut a chunk out the bottom of an old plastic toolbox to cover all the original holes, then redrilled it for the 600 carbs. The whole thing has been sealed with Silicon glue, Only time will tell if it works or if the silicon will be disolved by petrol
My throttle cable kit arrived yesterday, one of the plans this weekend is to make something that fits the 600 carbs properly.
Haven't had time this week to look at the fuel level sensor wiring, i'll hopefully sort that at the same time.

Re: Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
Over the weekend, i managed to get out and sort a couple of small things. My exhaust is finally mounted. I played around with the venhill cable kit and now have a working throttle that doesn't stick. It kept dropping back to running on 3 cylinders, i'm sure its just a HT lead but eventually swapping one of the coils back to a 3tj one sorted the problem. I'll put the other 3tj one back on over the next week or so.
Also finally wired in the fuel sensor and as suggested the dancing rev counter has stopped. :D
It's only a couple of evenings and a few parts away from me being able to take it out and see if all this work is worthwhile.
The idea is to use it mainly as a track bike with the odd run on the road so i was wondering what the general opinion is on gearing. Can i use a 3tj sprocket or do i need to get a fzr600 520 conversion one?

The 520 will obviously last longer but you might want to save a bit of dosh and use the standard chain until you need to change it.

Re: Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
I tested mine with the 428 chain on it but my front sprocket was hooked so didn't want to be going full power with that on it for too long. I had no problems on the 428 chain other than mine was on the way out anyway.
I know it's OTT but I had a 530 chain lying around so just used that and bought the sprockets. I figured that £25 and a free chain was better than shelling out £100-odd for the 520

True Plodder ... but I have to say I'll probably use a 520 for the Bimota (GSX-R1100W) next it's a lot lighter than a 530 and plenty strong enough.

Re: Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
I spoke to B&C express today, decided to order a new rear sprocket for the 3tj wheel to suit the 530 chain that i got with the 600.
Used Fzrtims guide of 14 / 47 for the gearing. The sprocket has to be machined from a blank and will be here in about a week.
Just got to get some new brake pads and i'm away.

Re: Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
I agree if I had been buying I would have had the 520.
For the 530, I just used the standard JT sprockets JTR 862.46

Re: Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
Update on progress over the last week or so
Chain and Sprockets are done. Airbox is now sealed to carbs and engine is running well. So mechanically i'm finished.

On to some cosmetics. I need to paint the top fairing and tank, does anyone know the paint colour / codes for the red and white SP?
