The time has come for a new set of rubber... and my several calls have led me to...

"We don't stock BT090s or BT092s any more, sorry!"

The 090s I have on Front & Rear have served me well and I'm thinking of staying with Bridgestone, but has anyone tried these BT016s?

I'm slightly confused by the whole 5 compound technology, but they claim to be good... I'm looking at £150 for the pair, so really would like some input before loading the credit card up some more! :D

just means they have used 5 types o rubber to build the tyre, mainly on the griping surface

Alpha 10s, greame france or maybe simon_ed can help you out? Thats presuming you want grippy tyres that wear out pretty quick.

Hell no... the last set were replaced due to "squaring", same thing with this set... I don't do Track Days, or silly corner speeds, so mulit compound seems the best option!

I'm not sure if there is much point, they've been discontinued for so long, I'm sure those left around are gonna be close to the "6 Year Shelf Life" quoted all over the internet... the ones on my bike at the moment are 3103 (Week 31, 2003).

I'm guessing no one has tried them, so I'm up for a bit of "unknown". I'll let you know how I find them after a few months.

BTW, I'm ordering them via my companies Trade Account... £150 for the pair (delivered), compaired to £250 fitted to the bike by a well know supplier in the Bristol area. Looking about £20 for fitting (quoted) from a (couple of) local garages. So saving myself a few quid.

i myself have went through numerous alpha 10's,gpr70 etc and over the last year have went with bridgestone bt014's!!!!

i found them in comparison to the grippy dunlops to be very good indeed.very grippy but much better for wear.

i got a lot more miles than the dunlops.

so i would recommend getting a hold of bt014's if they are still available.

i think the 5 compound technology with regards to the bt016's is to do with the rear tyre triple compound and i believe the front tyre dual compound...i may be wrong.

but for £150 the pair then go for it,sounds like a bargain to me.

LOL, They have been superseded / replaced by the BT016s

Indeed, the rear has 3 compounds, in a "5LC" arrangement... 1 2 3 2 1 - The front has dual compounds in "3LC" 1 2 1.

Glad to hear someone has had some experience with something other then the Bridgestone 090s/092s... I like my Bridgestone tyres, even if I do have the Micheline Man all over my bike.

New 090s and 92s readily available - new stock as well - something wrong somewhere !!

I sold 2 sets BT92s last week - 1 still in the workshop date stamped week 24 08.

Have found some Ebay sellers seem to be selling off old stock bought cheap.

Thats good to know... thank you Mr France... If I ever get into track days, it's also good to know that the 090s / 092s are still about as I've had no problems with them at all.

My last set (090s) have just about lasted 2 years / 5000 odd miles, but they are square, so I'm liking the idea of the harder compound in the centre, softer for the corners. I have no idea why this "well respected" company have told me they aren't available, unless they just don't stock them anymore?
